I had a whole day off from school today. Went with the boys chorus to compete in the Auckland competition. Top 3 teams get to go to Wellington for the Regionals! Results are down below but first here's the low down on what happened before.


We arrived at school first thing as usual, and headed straight for Mr Sua's class for rehearsals. Had trouble sorting out our blazers and ties. John couldn't even keep his eyes open

There are 6 boys choruses competiting for the top 3 spots and the other 3 basically sucked so we were sorta guaranteed a spot in the regionals already. Maybe that's why we were confident enough to pose even before we got to the actual place.

The competition is held at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, which is the biggest church in Auckland.

And had to sit through all the other acts before it was finally our turn. By this time some of the guys were already nervous i think. Backstage, just as we were about to go on, when we realised that our line was in the wrong way while lining up on a narrow staircase backstage leading up to the main stage. Imagine 10 guys trying to scramble over each other getting into place. I forgot the number of times the lady gestured for us to "shhhh" from the top of the stairs.

To cut the long stooory short,i think we did pretty well and the guys went crazy once the results were announced. Defending champions Rangitoto College came first, Mt Roskill came second and your very own MAGS Poizz came in third. Not bad for our first time there.
